Is something not working with your Heylo auto-scoring ring or the Matchflight app? Pick your problem below to see right away what you can do. Still stuck? We’ll help you out personally.
The odd wrong score can happen, for example with a bounce-out: a dart that falls out of the board isn’t always recognised. If it happens often, the calibration is usually off.
How to fix it
Correct the score manually in the app and carry on playing.
Happening regularly? Recalibrate via Menu › Heylo management › Recalibrate and follow the steps on your screen.
Make sure the board is evenly lit, without direct sunlight or harsh shadows.
Check that the board is hanging straight and hasn’t been turned or moved since the last calibration.
Often the calibration is out of date, the light is too dark, too bright or uneven, or the board isn’t sitting properly in Heylo.
How to fix it
Fully recalibrate Heylo.
Make sure the light on the board is even: no direct sunlight, glare or deep shadows.
Check that the board is firmly in place: the pin in the centre of the board drops into the hole in the centre of Heylo, the board sits almost flush with the foam, and the 4 clamps aren’t bent or forced.
Check the number ring: it hangs on all of Heylo’s hooks, with some space between the board and the ring.
Make sure nothing is blocking the cameras, such as the brackets the number ring was originally attached to.
Check the board and the ring for damage.
Still not working after recalibrating? Get in touch.
Calibration isn’t working
For calibration you need a good connection, a board that hangs straight and secure, and enough light.
Check first
Your phone stays on Wi-Fi with Bluetooth on throughout.
You have the latest version of the app and of your phone’s operating system.
Heylo is plugged in.
The board is straight and secure, and doesn’t move during calibration.
Your phone is close to Heylo.
Won’t start or gets stuck?
Unplug Heylo and wait at least 10 seconds.
Plug it back in.
Close the app completely, open it again and start the calibration once more.
Still not working? Restart your phone and go through the setup again.
Tip: the photo of your board doesn’t have to be exact. A few centimetres off is no problem, as long as the whole board is in the picture.
Update gets stuck
Usually caused by an unstable Wi-Fi or Bluetooth connection, or your phone being too far from Heylo.
How to fix it
Make sure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection and keep Bluetooth on.
Keep your phone close to Heylo and close any apps you’re not using.
Unplug Heylo for 10 seconds and plug it back in.
Restart the update via Menu › Heylo management › Update Heylo.
Accidentally closed the app during an update?
Don’t worry. Open the app again and check whether the update was successful. If it was interrupted, restart it via Menu › Heylo management › Update Heylo.
Often caused by an outdated app, an unstable internet connection, lots of apps running in the background or a Heylo that needs an update.
How to fix it
Check your internet connection.
Close the app completely and open it again.
Update the app to the latest version and check whether there’s an update for Heylo.
Close any apps you’re not using.
Restart your phone.
We’re automatically notified of one-off crashes. Does the app keep crashing? Get in touch and include your username, the make and model of your phone, your iOS or Android version, the app version and what you were doing.
Can’t log in

No confirmation or shipping notification
The email may have ended up in your spam, your order may still be processing or already on its way, or the wrong email address may have been entered.
How to fix it
Check your spam or junk mail folder.
Check your order confirmation for shipping and tracking details.
Still nothing? Get in touch with your name and, if you have it, your order number.
Heylo fits around standard 45 cm steel-tip boards with a traditional number ring. Children’s boards, smaller boards and electronic soft-tip boards don’t fit.
How to fix it
Check that your board is 45 cm, with a separate number ring.
Remove the brackets the number ring was originally attached to.
Position the board so the pin in the centre of the board drops into the hole in the centre of Heylo. The board will then sit almost flush with the foam.
Don’t force or bend the 4 clamps.
Hang the number ring on all of Heylo’s hooks, with some space between the board and the ring.
Then recalibrate.
Still doesn’t fit? Get in touch with a photo of your board in Heylo.
Ring or foam damaged
The ring catches darts that miss the board, and the foam protects the technology inside Heylo. Small holes and dents from darts are normal wear.
How to fix it
Small holes, dents or scratches from darts? You can just keep playing.
Scores no longer right? Recalibrate.
Wear from use and from playing darts is not covered by the warranty. Got another question about the warranty? Take a look at the warranty terms.

Faulty within the warranty? Here’s how to make a warranty claim.
Step by step
Installing, calibrating, updating and rotating your board. It’s all done in the Matchflight app.
Installing Heylo
You’ll need: a properly mounted dartboard, a socket nearby, a smartphone with iOS or Android and stable Wi-Fi. Heylo not mounted yet? First follow Mounting Heylo.
Plug Heylo into the socket.
Download the Matchflight app from the App Store or Google Play.
Switch on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your phone.
Open the app and go to Menu › Heylo management.
Follow the steps on your screen. After that, you’ll be guided through calibration.
Mounting
Tools: spirit level, tape measure, flat-head and Phillips screwdrivers and a drill. Some of these are in the box. All the steps with photos are in Mounting Heylo.
The centre of the bull should be 1.73 metres above the floor.
On a flat, sturdy wall that can hold at least 15 kg.
No direct sunlight on the board, not even from a window beside or opposite it.
Wall not completely flat? Use the spacers from the box and check with a spirit level that the board is hanging straight.
The wall plugs supplied are for a solid wall. For a hollow wall (such as plasterboard) you’ll need special cavity wall plugs; check first that the wall can take the weight.
This lets Heylo know exactly where each segment of your board is. Usually you only do this once.
Make sure the board is hanging properly and is evenly lit.
Open the app and go to Menu › Heylo management.
Choose Calibrate Heylo.
Follow the steps in the app.
Recalibrate when you fit a new board, rotate or rehang the board, or move Heylo, and whenever scores aren’t right any more.
Updating Heylo
Updates improve recognition, stability and connection, and bring new features and games. You install them yourself via the app; it usually takes a few minutes.
Open the app and go to Menu › Heylo management › Update Heylo.
Follow the steps on your screen.
Keep your phone close to Heylo throughout the update.
Don’t unplug it until the update is finished.
Rotating your board
Want a different black segment at the top? Here’s how to rotate your board.
Turn the supports behind Heylo clockwise a few times, so Heylo can turn freely without scratching your wall.
Turn the whole Heylo, including the foam, until a different black segment is at the top.
Turn the supports anticlockwise to tighten them again.
Take the number ring off the hooks and hang it back with the 20 at the top.
In the app, choose Menu › Heylo management › Recalibrate and follow the steps.
Starting a game
Open the Matchflight app.
Choose a game.
Choose the players. Playing with friends on the same board? Choose the number of players.
Start and throw. Heylo scores automatically.
You can pause, resume, or stop and restart a game in the app.

Your dartboard and mounting
Does Heylo work with my dartboard?
Yes. Heylo fits around standard 45 cm steel-tip boards with a traditional number ring, so you don’t need to buy a new board. Children’s boards, smaller boards and electronic soft-tip boards don’t fit.
How do I mount Heylo?
On a flat, sturdy wall that can hold at least 15 kg. The centre of the bull should be at 1.73 metres. Mounting hardware is in the box; you calibrate in the app. All the tips are under mounting. Step by step with photos: Mounting Heylo.
What do I need to play?
Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz) with internet, a power socket, the free Matchflight app and an account to connect your Heylo.
Can I move Heylo?
Yes, you can take Heylo down and hang it somewhere else. Recalibrate afterwards, so the score is as accurate as possible again.
Where’s the best place to hang my board?
Flush against a flat, sturdy wall, with no direct sunlight on the board. Where possible, keep about 1 metre of free space all around.
Does Heylo work with soft-tip darts?
Heylo is made for standard 45 cm steel-tip dartboards with a separate number ring. Electronic soft-tip boards don’t fit.
App and playing
Do I need a subscription?
No. The app is free and so is playing, with no limit on the number of throws. With the launch deal you also get 12 months of the full app and all games for free. After that, the free app simply stays free, and Matchflight Premium costs €5.95 a month.
Which devices does the app work on?
The Matchflight app is free for iOS and Android. You’ll need an account to connect your Heylo.
I’ve forgotten my password
Tap Forgot password in the app. You’ll go to a web page where you enter your email address. If that email address is registered with us, you’ll get an email to reset your password. No email? Check your spam. Still not working? Get in touch with your email address and username.
How do I cancel Premium?
After the 12 free months, you only pay if you choose Premium yourself (€5.95 a month). Throwing is always free, and most games also work in the free basic version. Want to stop Premium? Cancel your subscription in the app, or get in touch with us.
These include X01 (such as 501), Cricket/Tactics, Killer and March of the Dodos, and training games such as 121, Halve-it, Bob’s 27, Single Shoot Out, Double Dash, Triple Test, Hardcore, Hit ’em All and 99 Darts. More games are added with updates.
Can I play online?
Yes. You need a stable internet connection, a connected and calibrated Heylo and the latest version of the app.
Can I play with friends on the same board?
Yes. When starting a game, choose the number of players.
Can I pause or restart a game?
Yes. In the app you can pause a game, resume it, or stop and start a new game.
Does the app work without Heylo?
Yes, you just enter your scores yourself. With Heylo, scoring is automatic.
A bounce-out isn’t shown correctly
A dart that falls out of the board isn’t always recognised automatically. If so, correct the score manually in the app.
Do I need to be technical?
No. The app guides you step by step through the setup. Still stuck? Get in touch, we’re happy to help.
Now and then. Wipe it with a dry cloth. Don’t use water or cleaning products.
Does Heylo switch off by itself?
No. You switch it off by unplugging it from the socket. It’s also fine to leave Heylo plugged in all the time.
What if I throw into the foam?
No problem. The foam protects the technology inside Heylo.
Is Heylo safe for children?
Yes, under supervision. It’s still darts, and darts are sharp.
Can I look straight into the LED ring?
Don’t look straight into the LEDs. It can irritate your eyes.
Can I dim or switch off the LED lighting?
The LED lighting keeps the board evenly lit, so the cameras can see every throw clearly. You can’t switch off or dim the lights yet, but it’s on our to-do list.
I’ve spotted a dangerous situation
Spotted something that could cause injury, fire or an electric shock? Stop using it immediately and report it as soon as possible via hey@matchflight.com.
Does Heylo have CE marking?
Yes. With it, Matchflight declares that Heylo meets the European requirements for safety, health, electromagnetic compatibility and the environment. The EU declaration of conformity comes with the device and you can request it from us.
How do I dispose of Heylo?
Heylo contains electronics and doesn’t belong in household waste. Take it to a collection point for electrical appliances.
Returns and warranty
Can I return Heylo?
Yes, you get a 30-day money-back guarantee, and returns are free. Here’s how it works: returns and warranty.
What warranty do I get?
2 years on the technology: cameras, score recognition, LED lighting, electronics and the connection to the game. The ring catches darts and wears with normal use; that wear is not covered by the warranty.
How do I make a warranty claim?
Warranty claims go through the shop where you bought Heylo. If you bought it from a partner, contact their customer service. If you bought it from Matchflight, email hey@matchflight.com with:
a description of the problem
photos or a video, if possible
the date the problem started
your order number
What isn’t covered by the warranty?
Normal wear of the ring from darts, and damage caused by:
incorrect or careless use, or deliberate damage
incorrect installation or mounting
non-original accessories, parts or adapters
moisture, water or other liquids
repairs or modifications by anyone other than Matchflight
smoke, nicotine or dust due to insufficient maintenance
external causes such as fire, flooding or storms
Scratches, discolouration or small dents that don’t affect how it works aren’t covered either. This doesn’t affect your statutory rights.
